The Sun represents our conscious mind in Astrology. It represents our will to live and our creative life force.
Just as the planets revolve around the Sun in our solar system, we derive our life purpose from the Sun in our natal charts. The Sun is our ego. It is also our “adult”— the part of us that censors our “inner child”, that reasons things out, and makes final decisions. The Sun is our basic identity, and represents self-realization. When you are asked, “Who are you?”, and you’ve passed your basic statistics and occupation, your answers will be a description of your Sun. The Sun also represents our overall vitality.
The Sun is so important in the chart, that the happiest people on this earth are those who identify (without over-identifying) with the Sun’s expression. Though one might think that the traits of their Sun would come easy to them, the truth is, the Sun shows what we are learning to be. It is very important to remember that the Sun represents reason as opposed to instinct.
The Sun directs us, and can be considered “Boss” of our Natal Charts. When action is desired, Mars is called upon. When communication is needed, the Boss calls out Mercury.
Similarly, the Sun works as a Filter for our Birth Charts. While the Moon, Venus, and Mars represent the emotional responses to external stimulus, the behavior we ultimately display is that under the domain of the Sun.
By Sign, the Sun shows the style in which we navigate through life. It shows how we identify ourselves, and our self-expression.
By House, the Sun shows where our passion and personalities shine through. This area of life indicates which types of experiences most strongly contribute to our sense of individuality and pride.
The Sign the Sun falls under shows our style, life purpose, and destiny. This placement shows what we are learning to be in our lifetime.
Happiness can be achieved by accepting our Sun Signs. Denying it’s better traits may lead to an inability to know where you’re heading in life. The Sun is our style when we are at our best, and our life goals and purposes.
The 1st Sign of the Zodiac tends to be just that – first. First to start, and first to finish, whatever they set out to do. Aries are active and energetic, and are very physical. They have a natural inclination to use their bodies to get things done – not necessarily violently, as much as they prefer physical accomplishment of tasks rather than theoretical.
Aries love to start new things, and have a deep love for novelty in friendships, love, or even the new acquisition of objects. Even the sensations of a fresh slate, promise of a new date, or new beginning to something are incredibly pleasing to these people.
Aries are in-tune with their basic instincts, and they always know exactly what they want. They also usually know the quickest route to getting it. Individuals with their Sun in Aries are direct, straightforward, and uncomplicated. They prefer if those with whom they interact behave similarly, as they have a strong distaste for games, or “beating around the bush.” They can sometimes be bold, but even the quitter ones are brave in their own ways.
These individuals place a high value on their independence. Aries strongly loathe being inhibited from pursuing the things they want in life, or from accomplishing their goals.
